Do you need a website before you launch?
Short answer: probably not on day one. Here's how to tell when that changes.
A website is one of the easiest ways to spend money before you've proven anyone wants what you're selling. If you're still in the LAGOS or 14-Day Test stage, that money and time are almost always better spent talking to real people first.
You probably don't need one yet if...
- You're still testing whether people want this at all (that's what the 14-Day Test is for)
- WhatsApp, Instagram, or a simple order form is handling every sale so far
- You haven't run the LAGOS Scorecard on the idea yet
It's probably time once...
- You're taking payments regularly and a link in bio isn't cutting it anymore
- A vendor, partner, or investor has asked "do you have a website?" and you didn't love the answer
- You're building the kind of credibility the TRUST Stack talks about, and a real web presence is part of that
- You're ready to spend on marketing, and need somewhere for that spend to actually send people
What it shouldn't be
A website before paying customers is usually a status project, not a business tool. If that's where you are, put the budget into testing instead. The tools in your Starter Hub cost nothing and will tell you more than a homepage will.
When you're ready
Build From Abroad is a Bright Bridge program. Our sister studio, Conceptbox, designs the kind of website this stage calls for. It is built by the same team, so it's a genuine recommendation, not a stranger's ad.
New website
From £950 for a focused single-purpose site, up to a full multi-page build. Pricing scales with what you actually need.
